Chris Jericho suspended for 30 Days!

Chris Jericho in crease and arrest

Chris Jericho has been suspended by WWE after an incident in Brazil, during WWE’s recent tour of the country, on Thursday (24th May).

Jericho was involved in a match with WWE Champion CM Punk where Punk chose to proudly wave the Brazilian flag to the audience, in Sao Paulo, where Jericho grabbed it from him and scrunched the flag up before tossing it outside of ring.

Local law enforcement immediately came to apprehend Jericho, halting the match and demanding an apology after revealing desecration of the Brazilian flag is a punishable offence and immense crime, which can deliver a prison sentence, above regular charges.

Jericho chose to apologise in a heartfelt realisation, after discovering the news from authorities.
No problems in Rome...

It seems Jericho was stunned by the instant circumstance.

WWE released a statement explaining it did not authorise Jericho’s improvisation.

"Chris Jericho has been suspended indefinitely due to an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE event in Sao Paulo on May 24. The WWE has apologized to the citizens and the government of Brazil for this incident."

Jericho stated he loves Brazil and its culture with a humble announcement to the live audience.
“I’d like to apologize for stepping on the flag earlier."
“I love Brazil. We are very happy to be here to perform for you. So please accept my apology for stepping on your wonderful flag of this wonderful country.”

While I am not the spokesperson for Jericho, nor defending his actions, it is clear that Chris Jericho, a heel character, on a live event, chose to improvise. This improv can often be quick and in the situation as it happens, which is something an entertainer/actor and wrestling superstar has to face to please a paying crowd. While the choice to use the flag was unnecessary for its nation, Brazil must understand it was not a choice to defame the country. It was a clear concise improvisation.

The fact that a law is in place over its flag is questionable, though let’s be clear – this is NOT defamation. It is clearly an observation and supportive response. Wrestling Wonders, just like many others in the business respect Brazil, but threatening to place someone in prison over an unintentional line of work to please the country in attendance to give them a pleasant event with the WWE and wrestling, to further add to its culture shouldn’t be taken out of context.

Fans may now also view Brazil in a negative state over this revelation.

Jericho has now been suspended indefinitely by employing organisation, WWE. Jericho, whom is touring with his band, Fozzy, in June/July 2012, was expected to work through dates until closer the time and juggle the two sporadically.
This may be seen as a perfect opportunity for WWE, seeming to care about the problem, using it to have a legitimate reason to act on Jericho and seem caring in a PR related engulfment.
Jericho has had no trouble in media negativity, most notably, with the female fan incident and speeding splendour involving other numerous staff then employed.

Jericho has been suspended for thirty days, currently.
